Coaching & consulting
In my current role, as senior advisor to a military staff, I coach, support, and advise staff members in all fields of communication. I train and advise them to optimally handle press (opportunities and threats), but also act as a consultant in formulating internal and external messages, determining audi-ences and selecting the right channels to reach them.
Innovation
As a staff advisor, but also in my role as a (media) consultant for 1 Civil- Military Command it is my job to spur innovation and drive change. I take part in several think tanks and help colleagues develop their communicative skills through (informal) coaching and media training. As a former head of media teams and officer in the Dutch army, I am trained in thinking out of the box and know how to create a working environment where creativity blossoms.
Strategy
Communication strategy is my second name. Using well-proven methods like SWOT-analysis and military doctrines like `situational awareness’ I am able to quickly identify key stakeholders as well as opportunities and develop the most effective approach in response.
Content management
Writing is in my blood. As an ex-military journalist, chief-in-editor and writer of fiction I know the power and impact of words, am more than able to navigate dangerous ‘waters’ and know how to dis-creetly handle and process sensitive information. I am well-trained in the creation and application of multimedia and the use of data to shape determine which channel, message and timing works best for which audience. Helping to structure, write and revise content into compellingly clear pieces is my expertise.
Project management
I work well independently; can handle stress, deadlines and ‘overtime’. Working in teams, in various roles, excites me as well. I like a hands-on approach, working with my ‘boots on the ground’. But am just as content to take-on the role of leader and / or coach. As I currently work as the primary advisor for 8 different business units (2000 people) I am used to juggling several projects simultaneously.

Solid international experience: I studied, worked and lived abroad for several years, am fluent in both Dutch and English and have a more than decent command of the German language. Being a weathered advisor to our most senior staff I know how to develop, guard, sell and promote corporate messages, be it through social media, corporate videos, photography or other means. As a former military officer I know what it takes to lead and I like doing so by example.
